Is There a Dynamic Difference between Stealthy and Standard Coronal Mass Ejections?

چکیده
Abstract Stealthy coronal mass ejections (CMEs), lacking low signatures, may result in significant geomagnetic storms. However, the mechanism of stealthy CMEs is still highly debated. In this work, we investigate whether there are differences between and standard terms their dynamic behaviors. Seven eight with speeds selected. We calculate two-dimensional speed distributions based on cross-correlation method, rather than unidimensional speed, further obtain more accurate evolution CME mechanical energies. Then derive driving powers correlate them parameters (total mass, average acceleration) for CMEs. Besides, study forces that drive CMEs, namely, Lorentz force, gravitational drag force due to ambient solar wind near Sun. The results reveal both propelled by combined action those inner corona. comparable force. impact global significantly weaker

Coronal Mass Ejections
A coronal mass ejection (CME) is an eruption of billions of tonnes of magnetically charged plasma from a star’s corona. The material ejected is sent into interplanetary space where it eventually dissipates. Should the material collide with a planet then that planet’s electro-magnetic field would be temporarily disrupted. If the Earth’s electro-magnetic field were disrupted by a large CME then p...
متن کاملComposition of Coronal Mass Ejections
We analyze the physical origin of plasmas that are ejected from the solar corona. To address this issue, we perform a comprehensive analysis of the elemental composition of interplanetary coronal mass ejections (ICMEs) using recently released elemental composition data for Fe, Mg, Si, S, C, N, Ne, and He as compared to O and H. We find that ICMEs exhibit a systematic abundance increase of eleme...
متن کاملThe Relation between EIT Waves and Coronal Mass Ejections
More and more evidence indicates that “EIT waves” are strongly related to coronal mass ejections (CMEs). However, it is still not clear how the two phenomena are related to each other. We investigate a CME event on 1997 September 9, which was well observed by both EUV imaging telescope (EIT) and the high-cadence MK3 coronagraph at Mauna Loa Solar Observatory, and compare the spatial relation be...
متن کاملOn the Temporal Relationship between Coronal Mass Ejections and Flares
The temporal relationship between coronal mass ejections (CMEs) and associated solar Ñares is of great importance to understanding the origin of CMEs, but it has been difficult to study owing to the nature of CME detection. In this paper, we investigate this issue using the Large Angle and Spectrometric Coronagraph and the EUV Imaging Telescope observations combined with GOES soft X-ray observa...
متن کاملOn the Relationship Between Coronal Mass Ejections and Magnetic Clouds
We compare the substructures of the 1997 February 07 coronal mass ejection (CME) observed near the Sun with a corresponding event in the interplanetary medium to determine the origin of magnetic clouds (MCs). We find that the eruptive prominence core of the CME observed near the Sun may not directly become a magnetic cloud as suggested by some authors and that it might instead become the ”press...
